One Single Impression

These are from two prompts because I got sidetracked and didn't post last week's poem. The prompts were: cognizant and voyeuristic.

Aging Well

An hour before twilight, the sunlight
sometimes becomes cognizant
of everything it touches.

From Viewed to Viewer

I only really watch the tree
when it blooms.

See more poems at One Single Impression. Note: The actual prompt was Vicarious... I only thought it was Voyeuristic. I'm posting this anyway because it still sort of applies. Sorry about that.

These are luscious. I love the second one - it speaks to me.

I think the second one fits either way. And you could make the case that the two are very similar. The voyeur is experiencing... whatever it is... vicariously.

I really like the first one, but both are quite good.

Tumblewords: I was thinking about how few people actually look at me now that I'm almost 40 and I realized that I tend to look at the younger prettier things... and that's what I came up with. I like how it kind of changes what it means even to me every time I read it, though.

Mojo: That's true. I hadn't thought of it that way.

Travis: Thanks. The first one seems happier to me. Thank you so much for reading.
