I'm baaack

Just a couple more days till the Blogblast for Peace!

***

Instead of NaNo, seeing as how I lost three days, I'm thinking of doing this. And anyway, even if I never do anything with all the poems I write, it will be fun. Chapbook Challenge

***

My new motto is, "lets try something new". After all, what I've already done didn't quite work out the way I had hoped. Who knows what might happen if I do new and different things. A sales presentation I heard once said that if you want to increase your success rate you need to increase your failure rate. Nobody cares how many times you fell down. They only care about the times it all came together and you crossed the finish line.

That's what one of my get off your ass and stop crying over that deadbeat jerk books says. It says I have to talk to lots and lots of losers first. It really said that. Losers.

I hope to meet at least some nice guys who aren't the one instead of a bunch of losers, but if I need to fail, I need to fail! :)

Glad you are back.

The sad truth is that there are a lot of poor fits out there. I dated a lot of men that I'm glad I didn't marry but loser seems like strong language. Anyway, there is a nice guy out there that will recognize you as the gem you are. It will work out eventually. It sucks that you have to kiss so many frogs first.

"...if you want to increase your success rate you need to increase your failure rate."

How interesting.
I hadn't quite thought of it in those terms before, but it makes sense.
In music, for example, you'll never learn an instrument if you're too afraid of making mistakes. The learning process means mistakes are inevitable. Just listen to any first-year violinist. (!!!)
Interesting thought, to apply this philosophy to life in general.

One thing music teachers/tutors/conductors are prone to say to timid students is "If you're going to make a mistake, make it a GOOD one!"
(Meaning, don't be afraid to play with confidence, even if the wrong note comes out the first few times you try.)

In sales it is really easy to put off making calls and trying to close because you are afraid you might be shot down. You almost always have to hear a lot of no before you get a yes, but the number of yes-es are what determine your income. More no-s mean you will get more money eventually...

Hearing you describe it in terms of music just confirms my (current) belief that it might not be a bad way to look at life in general.

Marilyn, I'm sorry you're not happy with your new mayor... Bloomberg has been good for NYC! I'm doing a Blagblast for Peace post and it will beup at midnight! Peace out!

I'll be sure and visit your blog in the morning.

Being unhappy with my mayor won't really make any difference in my life... so it's okay. I don't know anything about Bloomberg but I know you and I tend to agree where politics is concerned so I'm sure he's a great mayor.
