Lovely work. I agree with everyone else about the texture, it looks great.
Since the texture really makes this, I went back and found the source. I keep a library of textures to goof around with for both my 2-d and my 3d work but I only use texture images that are not restricted by the author. This one came from ~sirus-sdz on deviant art. He has produced a lot of stunning texture files.
