Shelly over at This Eclectic Life has a big project planned. She's making medicine bags and filling them with little charms for some kids at a summer camp. These kids are all dealing with cancer, either their own or a sibling's. But she isn't doing this by herself. She's asking for our help.
I made these three charms from Fimo (which is the strongest polymer clay I am personally familiar with). They measure about an inch and a half at the longest. They are all inspired by Shel Silverstein poems. There's a moon and a star in a moon-catching net, a wild strawberry, and a bat that's afraid of the light.
You don't have to be into sculpture to help. Found charms are just as good and if you have a knack for sewing you can make medicine bags. It doesn't take a lot of work from any one person but if each of us pitches in we'll be done in no time.

What a great idea, Marilyn. You are very gifted and so generous.
I love these charms, Marilyn! Never too late to post for Ruby Tuesday! What sandycarlson said... :)
Oh thanks. I don't feel like these are all that finely sculpted but I didn't want any thin pieces or delicate details on them since they are going to be handled a lot.
I did like the ideas behind them but those were Shel's. I hope they make some kids smile the way Shel's poems made me smile when I was a kid.
And it cost me nothing, as I had the materials on hand and they are little. And the time was play so it doesn't count.
Oh, and I'll do a ruby Tuesday post next Tuesday... I just have to find something red.
Marilyn, I'm posting with a link to this today. These are so grand. I can't wait to get my hands on them. And, thanks so much for helping spread the word.
I never got these, unfortunately. They sure were pretty.
