Anniversary

Andy and I celebrate our anniversary a month early because we like to celebrate it by going backpacking.

We were married in the mountains and took a backpacking honeymoon but it was late August and our honeymoon overlapped the bow hunting season, so we like to go earlier and miss both the traffic and the slight chance of being mistaken for elk.

Some years we exchange cards on the actual date. Some years we say happy anniversary to each other. This year we both completely forgot and nobody was irritated with anybody over it. After all, we spent two whole weeks in the wilderness in celebration already. We've been married seven years and even though we get on each other's nerves sometimes, it's looking like we'll be together at least another seven.
