Happy Saturday

My dog tried to eat a republican politician yesterday.

This guy came to my door last week to ask for my vote and to understand the significance of that, you'd pretty much have to live in this neighborhood. When I saw him there I thought at first he was a Jehovah's Witness. He was dressed nice, he was in my less than posh neighborhood, and he took the trouble to figure out how to find my kitchen door. Technically, I don't really have a front door and I have to give very specific instructions if I want a pizza delivered (sometimes the pizza guy even gets them).

Anyway, he seemed like a nice guy. I was too tired and flustered to ask him the important questions about gay marriage, reproductive rights, and the death penalty. Instead I asked him about homeschooling and republicans always score well on that front. Then, he ordered signs from me. That's always nice.

So yesterday I finished his signs and tried to call him to get them picked up and paid for but there was no answer on his cell and no voice mail. So I called his home and left a message with a very young sounding female person that at least seemed to be writing everything down. I finished the rest of my work list for the day and went grocery shopping. Andy was at the dentist.

A little after five, when I tend to start thinking of my Friday night as my own, I arrived home and dumped the groceries off at the kitchen table. At some point I had removed my tennis shoes. That's about when the guy showed up.

My dog was trying to eat him... or at least making a pretty good show of it. I rushed to save him from the evil clutches of my Chihuahua and got him his signs and wrote him a reciept and as he left I was thinking that the whole thing could have been a lot more awkward.

Then I spotted my missing shoes. They were ON the stove.... sigh.....

Yeah, I'd have to say there are a pretty few nice republicans around, if you know how to pick them out.

:)

Sandy: I'm glad it was funny. I've been having a lot of those days.

Whall: I actually know a lot of really nice republicans and a few democrats that aren't so nice. It turns out that how well you treat people doesn't seem to correlate with your political belief system.
